Hi ya’ll. This is the second year I have been in Ireland for St. Patrick’s Day. I was given the day off due to the festivities in town. Can’t complain!
I had no plans and decided to just head into the city before the madness. As I stepped off the LUAS, it was unlike anything I experienced before. The whole street: empty. This was extremely bizarre. I made my way down Grafton Street, one of the busiest shopping streets in Dublin. All of the businesses were closed and there were no street buskers making music and even weirder, there were no tourists to be found.
Reaching the end of Grafton, I felt like it was the calm before the storm. I turned the corner to Dame Street and saw endless streams of people. Everyone, and I mean everyone were dressed up in some sort of Irish or leprechaun outfit. This was a few hours before the parade and tons of people were locked. Needless to say, it was quite the experience to see. I walked around for quite a bit, but left once the parade started.
