Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend and are off to an enjoyable Monday. I know I am! The weather is absolutely lovely, so I was finally able to make some time for a picnic! I am completely blown away with this amazing picnic basket from my friends over at Ballymaloe, an Irish family food company. I mean seriously, look how cute!
Ballymaloe teamed up with the Marie Keating Foundation to help beat cancer. “In Ireland, we may not always get the best summers but when we get a glimmer of sunshine, we always get the BBQ out. This summer, we are asking people to get their friends, family or workmates together to BBQ to Beat Cancer. It doesn’t matter when, where or how. All that matters is that people come together and help turn up the heat on cancer. We are so grateful for the support of Ballymaloe Foods and Flogas who are sponsoring this fun, innovative campaign. We hope lots of people will register for a BBQ to Beat Cancer pack now!” – says CEO Liz Yeates.
A little background about Ballymaloe, which can be purchased in most grocery and butcher shops around Ireland, is a family success story. In the 1930’s, Ivan Allen started growing tomatoes on the Ballymaloe farm. However, he found that when he tried to sell them, people didn’t know what they were. This left his wife, Myrtle, with a glut of tomatoes in her kitchen, so she decided to start making a country relish with them. Years later, their daughter started using the same recipe to make Ballyaloe Country Relish, the same tasty product which is found in my photos. They cook using traditional methods and the best quality ingredients, resulting in delicious tasting products. Now, Ballymaloe is celebrating it’s 25th year in business!
My favorite products in the line are hard to choose from, because everything I’ve tasted thus far, has been delicious. The salad dressings are so fresh and the steak sauce with Irish stout adds such a nice flavor to boring meats. (My mouth is watering just thinking of it right now!) The steak sauce was just launched and uses Irish stout from the Dungarvan Brewery. I highly recommend it.
Please share your event on social media using the hashtag #BallymaloeBBQ to give maximum exposure to this terrific campaign for an amazing charity! To discover great recipes, click here! If you’d like to become more involved please check out their Twitter here and their Instagram here.
Happy BBQ’ing and I hope to see your photos!
