Too Faced Chocolate Gold Palette

Last time I did a palette review, it was well received, so I figured I’d continue on! Now, I am not one for scented makeup so the Too Faced collections did not really appeal to me. I see everyone raving about the peach and chocolate scented products, but I never tried them or had the urge. With that being said, the second I swatched the Too Faced Chocolate Gold palette, I changed my mind.

The Chocolate Gold palette is a metallic and matte eyeshadow palette. It claims to be made with 100% natural cocoa powder and real gold. I know that’s not a selling point for myself and didn’t make me gravitate towards it. Yes, there is a faint smell of chocolate to this powder formula though – it’s not overpowering that I couldn’t stand wearing it, but I definitely could smell it. After it is blended in on the eyes, it does lose its scent thankfully.

There are 16 shades total in the palette, two of the shades being larger than the others. In Chocolate Gold, there are quite a few high-shine foiled shadows which give the best looking metallics I’ve used in awhile. The mattes are also very velvety and give a full coverage look without needing to blend in. It’s so easy to use a brush or fingers and get the same color payoff. I didn’t find it kicked up much product, so this palette will last you quite awhile. With the palette being made with cocoa, it gives you a 12month life-span of the product. I’d be intrigued to see how long it will actually last before it starts to lose it’s luster and scent. Listed below are the colors in the palette:

  • Money Bags – a metallic grass green
  • Chocolate Gold (size of two shades) – a metallic leprechaun gold
  • Rich Girl – a metallic silvery-nude, perfect for a quick shimmery eye
  • Cocoa Truffle – a matte chocolate brown
  • Decadent – a matte black
  • Love & Cocoa – a metallic hot-chocolate brown
  • Old Money – a metallic copper
  • New Money – a metallic fuchsia pink
  • Famous – another metallic copper, yet more hints of gold
  • Classy & Sassy – a metallic light brown
  • So Boujee – a matte light brown, perfect for a transition color
  • Holla For A Dolla – a metallic mixed gold and greenish-brown
  • Gold Dripped – a metallic copper-gold
  • Livin’ Lavish – a metallic deep plum
  • Drippin’ Diamonds – a metallic silver, perfect for the inner corner of the eyes
  • Rollin’ In Dough (size of two shades) – a matte tan

Until I typed out that list, I did not realize how ridiculous the color names were – haha! The names do make sense with the name Chocolate Gold, so I’ll give them that. I also love the fact that this palette didn’t waste the space by adding in a dinky eyeshadow brush and they added a large mirror to the other side of the palette. It definitely does not feel cheap in your hands, probably which is why the palette costs $49. But hands down, I’d repurchase.
