Currently – I tend to find myself looking at others bloggers and YouTubers ‘favorites’ posts or videos during the month. There’s something about them that I find so interesting. Honestly they’re probably some of my favorite things to view on the internet right now, so I wanted to round up my favorites from the month as well. Maybe I’ll continue this for the whole year, who knows! So, what I’m reaching for in the month of January:
After the holidays, I saw that Marc Jacobs was offering a ‘mystery bag’ online, so clearly I had to have it. I did not hear too much about the bags, but thought getting a few full-sized products would be handy. Especially since I love Marc Jacobs beauty products. Inside I received a few items (I won’t spoil exactly what I bought in case you’re wanting to buy one too) but there was the Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer in shade 210 Confession. It’s a grey nail polish, but in some glances looks purpley-grey. The packaging was stunning, as all MJ products do. The polish doesn’t last as long without a top coat, but what nail polish does compared to gels these days?
Ahh, the ever-loved and spoken about Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara in 01 Black. This one’s a gem. I sampled the mini-size when it was thrown into a Sephora order. The first time I used it, I got compliments on my lashes. That never happens. I liked the way it lasted on my lashes and the length it gave, so I went on and bought full-size. Unfortunately I did find myself getting raccoon eyes the first few times of use with the larger bottle. It made my lashes so volumized that the excess would get all over my eyes before it dried. After having it open about two weeks, I’ve revisited the mascara and it dries much quicker now.
Any beauty lover most likely has this in their collection, but MAC Cosmetics finally made the Fix+ scents permanent in their collection, and for a good reason. I am a big fan of Fix+ and use it often to make my face look less powdery after applying makeup or to enhance eyeshadows. I purchased the full-size Fix+ in Coconut after I found the mini’s set in the MAC sale section. All three mini’s were less than $20, so I had my choice before I dove into the commitment of the full size.
Now, I do have a bone to pick with Laneige because of their crappy website ordering system, but I really do enjoy their products. I purchased two orders, waited a week both times to find out that my orders were ‘mysteriously’ cancelled. I followed up with the brand, and they’ve yet to comment back. They do not answer emails or phone calls. However – while in Sephora I decided to pick up the Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream, Water Sleeping Mask and the Hydrating Trial Kit which has 5 small size products. It contains sample sizes of the Moisturizing Foam Cleanser (1oz), Essential Power Skin Toner for Normal to Dry Skin (1.6 oz), Water Bank Essence (0.3 oz), Water Bank Moisture Cream (0.3 oz) and the Water Sleeping Mask (0.5 oz). The only product I didn’t love was the foam cleanser as it made my skin feel extremely tacky after use.
And last up, an impulse buy from Niod. Their Photography Fluid Opacity 12% is probably my favorite skin primer I’ve ever used. It couples as a highlighter, however I just slap it all over my face under my foundation. Opening up the product, I didn’t expect it to be a creamy white liquid. Regardless – it gives a ‘lit from within’ sort of glow. I’ve put it under all types of foundations and it is a really nice base.
