Glossier: The Phase 1 Set

It’s about time I finally got around to reviewing the coveted Phase 1 Set from Glossier. I’ve heard so much about it and still wonder why it took me so long to pick it up. As you probably have heard, or seen in my last posts, Glossier is the no-makeup makeup shop. I much prefer the skincare they sell over the makeup – not saying I dislike the makeup though!

The Phase 1 Set I purchased contains three items and comes in their classic pink bubble wrap bag. It comes with a cleanser, a moisturizer and a lip balm. The one interchangeable item is the lip balm. It’s called the Balm Dotcom. I went with the cherry flavor and I honestly have no idea why? I am not even a huge fan of cherry. I wish I picked up a different flavor, but I will say I love the texture quite a bit. It’s almost like a matte lip balm. On the tube, it says you can use it on the lips, cuticles, elbows or anywhere that needs love. I cannot imagine myself lathering this red balm on my elbows, but maybe I’ll give it a shot once I order the original Balm Dotcom.

The Milky Jelly Cleanser is also inside! I tried a sample size when I bought The Supers, and I really liked it. I didn’t think that I would. It’s extremely gentle on the skin and apparently has the same ingredients in contact lens solution, so you don’t have to worry about stinging your eyes. Normally – I use this as a second cleanse because I don’t want to use too much and have it run out! (I ordered some back-ups so I won’t have to worry) Occasionally I’ll need to double cleanse with it as some of my smoky eye makeup won’t be removed in one shot. The Milky Jelly Cleanser has Vitamin B5, so it helps retain moisture in the skin. You’ll notice that it does not leave your skin feeling stripped or dry.

Lastly is the Priming Moisturizer, which is the third item you’ll find in this set. It is known to be a two-in-one type of product: it primes and moisturizes. Hence the name. It’s a light day cream that preps the skin for a day full of makeup. The moisturizer is white and a bit runny, not as heavy as the Priming Moisturizer Rich. It helps to leave the skin plump, reduce redness and minimize pores. A few of the ingredients inside are Vitamin A, C and E so it leaves my complexion glowing and healthy. I enjoy using it during the summer, since it is light!
